The Cat Returns is a sort-of follow-up to Whispers of the Heart (review) but not really. Nonetheless after having watched Whispers of the Heart, I was curious to check out this movie. The premise seemed a little weird, but Baron and Muta are in this movie again, so why not? 🙂

Okay, I mentioned in my last movie review of a Studio Ghibli film that The Cat Returns was going to be the next movie on my list, but then I was charmed by the idea of watching this movie instead xD
During summer vacation, a schoolgirl named Shizuku, who longs to discover her true talents, observes an ordinary-looking cat riding by himself on the train. Intrigued, she decides to follow him. This chance encounter leads her to the mysterious Seiji, a boy who is determined to follow his dreams, and The Baron, a magical cat figurine who helps her listen to the whispers in her heart. Soon, Shizuku’s exciting adventures carry her far beyond the boundaries of her imagination.

Okay, last year I started watching all of the Studio Ghibli movies but sort of stopped this year for some reason (too many books, not a lot of time spent watching movies). After writing a particularly exhausting and D= test last week, I wanted to unwind completely and decided to watch one of his movies. This one wasn’t as long as the others and it seemed light enough for my present mood. Contains some minor spoilers ahead!
In the middle of her family’s move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and monsters; where humans are changed into animals; and a bathhouse for these creatures.

Moving along with Hayao Miyazaki’s movies, I’ve been curious about this movie because it won an Oscar for Best Animated Film back in 2002. Having seen the trailer a few times over, the setting is absolutely curious, as are the spirits walking around and the circumstances that Chihiro finds herself in. Finally got around to watching it today (yay!), so here we go. Spoilers if you haven’t watched this movie yet?
