Me Before You
By: Jojo Moyes
Format/Source: Mass bound paperback; my purchase

They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose . . .

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.

Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?

Guys, I finally did it! After years of seeing this book everywhere–reviewed my book bloggers, cropping up on GoodReads and elsewhere on the Internet, seeing the billboards in the subway–I’m finally reading this book. It took the upcoming movie adaptation starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin to prompt me to pick up this book to read 😛 Contains spoilers ahead!

Edmund Bertram’s Diary
By: Amanda Grange
Format/Source: Paperback; my copy

At ten years of age, Fanny Price came to live with Edmund Bertram and his family at Mansfield Park. Far from the brat Edmund expected, Fanny became his closest confidante and dearest friend.

But when the fashionable Crawford siblings–Henry and Mary–come to town, they captivate the Bertram family. Henry embarks on a scandalous flirtation with Edmund’s sister, who is already betrothed to another, while Edmund is enchanted by Mary’s beauty and wit. But when it appears that Mary is not all she seems to be, Edmund will turn to the one woman who has always been at his side to find the happiness he deserves–Fanny.

And at last I got my hands on Edmund Bertram’s Diary. Strangely enough this book is not available as an eBook and for whatever reason the paperback is a little more on the pricey side, but for the sake of completing my collection, I picked it up. Besides, having come to love Mansfield Park (commentary) with every re-read, it seemed high-time to finally read the story from Edmund’s perspective 😉

I couldn’t resist, after reading You Had Me At Hello (review), I just had to read this book 😀 I had been seeing the book around in the last few months prior to picking it up that I just had to check out what it was all about.

What happens when the one that got away comes back?

Rachel and Ben. Ben and Rachel. It was them against the world. Until it all fell apart.

It’s been a decade since they last spoke, but when Rachel bumps into Ben one rainy day, the years melt away.

From the moment they met they’d been a gang of two; partners in crime and the best of friends. But life has moved on. Ben is married. Rachel is definitely not. In fact, the men in her life make her want to take holy orders…

Yet in that split second, Rachel feels the old friendship return. And along with it, the broken heart she’s never been able to mend.

This was a whim purchase I made over the summer, haha. I’ve seen Mhairi McFarlane’s It’s Not Me, It’s You floating around during my many wanderings on GoodReads and book purchasing websites that I decided to pick it up. I also picked up this book because the premise sounded interesting (sucker for those second chances kind of stories 😉 ).

Scandal Takes the Stage (The Wicked Quills of London #2)
By: Eva Leigh
Format/Source: eBook; my purchase

Successful playwright Maggie Delamere has no interest in the flirtations of noblemen like Cameron, Viscount Marwood. She once paid dearly for a moment of weakness . . . and vows to rebuff the wildly persistent—and irritatingly handsome—scoundrel at every turn. But when pressure to deliver a new play hampers her creativity, an invitation to use his country estate as a writer’s retreat is too tempting to resist…

For years, Cam has admired Maggie’s brilliant work, and he can’t pass up the opportunity to discover if the beautiful, mysterious playwright is as passionate and clever as the words that flow from her quill. He’s never offered a lady his bed without being in it, but if it means loosening Maggie’s pen—and her inhibitions—he’ll do exactly that.

But soon Cam’s plans for seduction become a fight for Maggie’s heart. He’s more than the scandalous, carefree rake society believes him to be . . . and she’s the only woman who has ever noticed.

I decided to check out this title because the main character is a playwright (and I like main characters who are writers) 🙂
