September Updates

Posted 30 September, 2016 by Lianne in Website / 10 Comments

September, September, where did you go? Fairly quiet month on the blog (-ish?), but here we go:

+++

  1. Books reviewed this month include: Rupi Kaur’s milk and honey (review), Mhairi McFarlane’s You Had Me at Hello (review), and Yangsze Choo’s The Ghost Bride (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.
  2. For this month’s So You Want to Read…, I featured books written by Canadian historical fantasy author Guy Gavriel Kay. It’s funny because for years I thought I would never get around to the bulk of his bibliography, but I actually did earlier this year! So here I am recommending which books of his to check out first 🙂 For all my previous recommendations under this feature, check out this tag.
  3. Really cool but France Book Tours named me book blogger of the month for September :3 Many thanks again Emma!
  4. On a final note, I noticed this week that my blog has been acting up considerably–my Goodreads plugin that I was using before wasn’t loading, Revive Old Post hasn’t been working, blog is loading slower than usual, scheduled posts aren’t going live when they’re scheduled to. I don’t know if you guys have been experiencing any issues loading the blog or posting comments but I will try to look into it in the coming days.

+++

And that’s about it from me for the month of September! Wishing you all a wonderful October. Keep a lookout here on the blog as I’ve got something going on early in the month (those who know me fairly well/been following me for years on end will probably guess what it is) 😉

August Updates

Posted 31 August, 2016 by Lianne in Website / 2 Comments

Geez, where has the month gone? But in a way I’m relieved because that means that it’s soon autumn weather over here and I’m so done with 30+ degrees Celcius weather with humidex. Anyway, I’ve been sort of busy with work and stuff–weird schedules and all–but as always it’s been busy here on the blog. Here’s what has been going on around here for the month of August:

+++

  1. Books reviewed this month include: Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life (review), Kelley Armstrong’s Omens (review), and Federick Backman’s A Man Called Ove (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.
  2. One ARC was reviewed this month: Joseph Kessel’s The Crew (review). You can check out all of the ARCs I’ve read and reviewed to date in this tag.
  3. One movie was reviewed this month, Studio Ghibli’s Only Yesterday (review). You can check out all of the movies I’ve reviewed in the past in this tag.
  4. My article for the July/August issue of Femnista is live! The theme is everything William Shakespeare, and I opted to focus on his historical play Richard II (review) 😉 There’s been some changes to the publication recently, all of which you can find out about along with a link to my article in this post.
  5. For this month’s So You Want to Read…, I recommended books by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, one of my favourite authors. Fun fact: I had initially scheduled it for last month but opted to focus instead on Canadian authors. But here is my CRZ post now! 🙂 For all my previous recommendations under this feature, check out this tag.

And that’s about it from me for the month of August! Wishing you all a wonderful week and a wonderful September ahead, and to my fellow American and Canadian readers a happy long weekend 🙂

Hmm, well, so that was July 😛 Personally I’m thankful this month is over and done with as it has been a rather uncomfortable month weather-wise =S Bring on autumn (y u so far? I bought my first sweater for the autumn season)! Anywho, here’s what has been going on at my blog throughout the month:

+++

  1. Books reviewed this month include: Owen Sheers’ I Saw a Man (review), Christy Carlyle’s One Tempting Proposal (review), and Anne Girard’s Madame Picasso (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.

  4. For this month’s So You Want to Read…, I decided to place my Canadian authors to check out post that I did for Canada Day under that feature; you can check out my recommendations in this post (thanks again to those who entered the accompanying giveaway!). And that’s about it from me for the month! How was your July? Happy August! And to my fellow Canadian bloggers and readers a happy long weekend 🙂

June Updates

Posted 30 June, 2016 by Lianne in Website / 4 Comments

Haha, seems like yesterday that I was just bidding the month of May adieu! And now here we are at the end of June…I’m currently away at the moment so things are a little quiet on my Twitter but I’ll get back to comments (and emails) when I get back next week. In the meantime, here’s what has been going on at my blog for the month of June:

+++

  1. A bit related on the book reviews featured this month: about a third of the book reviews that went live this June were books I had read towards the end of 2015 but for one reason or another kept getting scheduled further and further back until it ended up in June xD Anyway, books featured this month include: Elizabeth Boyle’s The Viscount Who Lived Down the Lane (review), Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Lions of Al-Rassan (review), and Joseph Orenda’s Three Day Road (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.
  2. One ARC reviews was posted this month: Alexander Lernet-Holenia’s Mona Lisa (review). You can check out all of the ARCs I’ve read and reviewed to date in this tag.
  3. For this month’s So You Want to Read…, I focused on books by Marina Fiorato which felt fitting as her novels evoke much of sunny, lush, bella Italia 🙂 You can check out my list of recommendations for her books over here. For all my previous recommendations under this feature, check out this tag.
  4. I posted not one but two Eclectic Ponderings posts this month xD You can check out all of my ponderings to date over in this tag.

+++

And that’s about it from me for the month! How was your June? Wishing everyone a lovely July–and to all my fellow Canadian bloggers & readers a wonderful long weekend 🙂 And just a heads up to watch this space tomorrow, July 1st, for something special (aka it may or may not be a flash giveaway? 😉 )
