Travel: My Time in Frankfurt

Posted 28 August, 2019 by Lianne in Travel / 0 Comments

So, I’m insanely behind in my travel posts–backlogged from last year’s travels! So I’m dedicating this month to catching up and posting about my travels, bit by bit.

Okay, technically this isn’t part of our trip per se; it was just that our layover in Frankfurt was over a day long so we treated it as sort of the last leg of our journey. So we arrived at Frankfurt in the late afternoon/early evening. Settled in our hotel without difficulty and then went off to find some proper German food in pub somewhere (we eventually found it, lol; all of those were taken by phone, not by DSLR). So the following photos were taken in the morning; we got up early in order to wander to the old town for a bit before heading back to the airport.

All right, I separated the last day of our time in Iceland because Snaefellsnes is a large region and I took a lot of photos. Again, this was a region I had been to last time but it’s so different from South Iceland and honestly I don’t mind revisiting certain areas 🙂 Plus, as mentioned, this was my brother’s first time visiting Iceland.

Next leg in our journey was Iceland! Yeah, I’ve been here before, but I didn’t mind coming back again and I knew my brother wanted to visit Iceland so I included it in our itinerary. It was also pretty cool coming back because the weather was a lot calmer than when I went the first time so I got to see some vistas a lot more clearly compared this time around.

Reykjavik

Because our flight arrived sometime past midnight, we decided to take it easy on our first day. When we eventually arrived in Reykjavik we decided to take it easy, checked out the sights, picked up some items and whatnot. It was our chill day.

Travel: My Time in Brussels

So we blitzed one of our day trips in the Netherlands to make sure we could do this: a day trip to Brussels, Belgium! This was a bit of a last-minute decision too; I had started playing with the idea maybe a week before we left, thinking it would be so cool if we could drop by since we’re already in the area. But we did it 😀

Travel: My Time in the Netherlands (Part 2)

So, I’m insanely behind in my travel posts–backlogged from last year’s travels! So I’m dedicating this month to catching up and posting about my travels, bit by bit.

So I split up my Netherlands photos a bit here. The following photos from these two places were actually done on the same day, partly because we visited these two places for very specific reasons, and partly because we were trying to do as much as we can because of the day trip that came after the Netherlands. So yeah, we did the following in one day, lol.

Den Haag

This was definitely a last minute decision. We were originally supposed to go to Delft and see where Vermeer lived and worked, see the Delft porcelain that’s so popular. But after seeing all of the artwork in the Rijksmuseum and unable to tussle my way to see one of Vermeer’s artwork, I looked up where most of his work was housed and it pointed to Mauritshuis. Luckily my brother is very go with the flow so he was cool with going to Den Haag. And man, it was so nice and relatively calm, not a whole lot of bustle so we could really appreciate what we saw, however brief our trip was.
