August Updates

Where has the summer gone? lol seems like yesterday I was bemoaning how it was going to be work, work, work for me (*cue song here*). And lo and behold now we’re at the end of summer and classes are around the corner D= Anyway, here’s what has been going on around my blog for the month of August:

  1. Books reviewed this month include Susanna Kearsley’s A Desperate Fortune (review) and Meg Wolitzer’s The Interestings (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.
  2. The rest of the month was dedicated to catching up on all of my recent travels: from last year’s trip to Portugal to this year’s trip to the Netherlands and Iceland with side trips to Belgium and Germany. It was quite a feat but I’m quite proud to finally have caught up and share my travels with all of you. You can check out all of those posts in this category.
  3. My latest poetry collection, Scrawled Stars, is available online now (, the Book Depository, and elsewhere)! You can learn more about it in this post. Enjoy!

And that’s about it about the blog for the month of August! Well, back unto the breach for me. Have a wonderful Labour Day weekend!

  1. Hallo, Hallo Lianne,

My Summer has been long and difficult – mostly due to plumbing issues (read: epic floods!) but also, it just felt like something was bound to go wrong round each new turn. I’m quite thankful its now September – we dodged an epic storm as well knock on wood! I haven’t been able to visit with everyone as a result – plus, May was the month I was slammed by 5x migraines, so in theory, it has taken me most of the year to just get to a place where my head leaves me alone long enough to read and blog; mind you, I’ve missed visiting with my bookish mates the most.

I also had to postpone hosting @SatBookChat til this past weekend – I now have a fully booked Autumn and a few bookings into the New Year already! I’m quite happy to see the positive growth – we just had our 500th follower, too! Eek. Quite exciting. I nearly felt I might have to abandon all my plans for the chat and recognise sometimes when life throws you a lot of lemons it hard to keep making the lemonade!

I just felt re-inspired recently to give it a bit of a go and off it went! 🙂 I also returnt to #LitChat and found a new chat #WM_chat — so if I can move between two chats and my own, whilst regularly visiting my blogger friends, I’d consider myself “back in the groove”,…

Somehow I’ve managed to keep my own blog surfacing each month,…

I’m wicked thrilled to hear about your latest poetry collection! When I’m able to collect the volumes I’m missing I’ll be announcing the joy of bringing them home on my blog. I love supporting your poetry publications and as a fellow poet, it is lovely to find someone who has found a way not just publish their poems but to make poetry a cool news announcement!

I’ve been reading some lovely stories over the past nine months, too many to reference quickly – though the Harlequin Heartwarming authors like their sisters from the Love Inspired Suspense imprint are keeping me in smiles, laughter and bursts of sweet bookish joy!

Missed seeing you and having the chance to interact,… hope you’ve been well and I am a bit envious of all the lovely travelling you’ve been doing! I love travelling myself and some of those locations you’ve gone to are on my own #mustvisit list!! #JustWow.

    Happy September, Lianne!
