So, I’m insanely behind in my travel posts–backlogged from last year’s travels! So I’m dedicating this month to catching up and posting about my travels, bit by bit.
So I split up my Netherlands photos a bit here. The following photos from these two places were actually done on the same day, partly because we visited these two places for very specific reasons, and partly because we were trying to do as much as we can because of the day trip that came after the Netherlands. So yeah, we did the following in one day, lol.

This was definitely a last minute decision. We were originally supposed to go to Delft and see where Vermeer lived and worked, see the Delft porcelain that’s so popular. But after seeing all of the artwork in the Rijksmuseum and unable to tussle my way to see one of Vermeer’s artwork, I looked up where most of his work was housed and it pointed to Mauritshuis. Luckily my brother is very go with the flow so he was cool with going to Den Haag. And man, it was so nice and relatively calm, not a whole lot of bustle so we could really appreciate what we saw, however brief our trip was.
After wandering briefly around Den Haag, we hopped on the train again and this time made our way to Zaanse Shans to see the windmills! I thought about the Keukenhof gardens, but Zaanse Shans interested me more. We were praying the weather held as it was looking startlingly bleak outside (as was much of our time in the Low Countries, it seems!). But on we went.
And that’s it from my selected photos of the Netherlands! Of course I wished we had more time to go around properly, we really sort of blitzed through the places we really wanted to go, but otherwise we had a wonderful time 🙂 On to the next adventure!
