July Updates

Posted 31 July, 2017 by Lianne in Website / 2 Comments

You know, I swear I just look at my work schedule and after a few shifts I realise it’s the end of the month…So here we are at the end of July πŸ˜› Here’s what has been going on at my blog for this month:

+++

  1. Books reviewed this month include: Einar MΓ‘r GuΓ°mundsson’s On the Point of Erupting (review), Robert Harris’ Conclave (review), and Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train (review). You can check out all the books I’ve reviewed recently in the book review tag.
  2. No ARCs were reviewed this month! You can check out all of the ARCs I’ve read and reviewed to date in this tag.
  3. For this month’s So You Want to Read…, I focused on Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca. You can check out that post over here. For all my previous recommendations under this feature, check out this tag.
  4. For the rest of the month I featured photos from my holiday to Iceland and Denmark back in the end of April/early May (omg at long last, eh? Only took me how many months to finally get around to doing that >_<). Anyhow you can check out all my photos from my trip over at the Travel category πŸ™‚
  5. I also caved in and subscribed to the June edition of the Paper Panduh subscription box. You can see my unboxing photos over here. You can read all of the previous boxes I’ve unboxed at this tag
  6. And on a final note, my first poetry collection, Shall I Be a Poet Instead?, is available now! I’ve been working on this project for a good part of this year so it’s nice to finally be able to share some of my work with the world πŸ™‚ More information about my project and where to get a copy can be found at this post πŸ™‚ Happy reading!

And that’s about it for the month of July! Where is the season going? Happy August, and enjoy the rest of your week πŸ™‚

Paper Panduh Subscription Box [June 2017]

Another month, another unboxing, lol. So as you may have read from my last unboxing post, I caved in and re-subscribed for the June box from Panduh Box. I couldn’t help it, the theme for June was “She Creates” and everything about it in the sneak previews were amazing: the stuff included, the colour scheme featured (peach and navy blue). It was screaming my name so I picked it up πŸ˜› I received the box at the end of June πŸ™‚

Oh, and before I continue…ta-dah! New graphic card at the top of these kinds of posts…I’ve unboxed enough happy mail to warrant one πŸ˜‰

Anyhow, as always you can click on the images to enlarge and read what each item is Also, ignore my chipped nail polish in the following photos (been apologising for that on Instagram too):

Travel: My Time in Denmark (Day 6)

Posted 27 July, 2017 by Lianne in Travel / 2 Comments

At long last I am making my travel posts! Oh yes, that’s right, for about the next two weeks I am going to be posting, day by day, photos from my trip back in April and May to Iceland and Denmark πŸ˜€

Alas, here we are on the day 6, my final day in Denmark and on my trip as a whole (the 7th day doesn’t really count as it was spent travelling back). I spent my last day in Denmark back in Copenhagen, taking it easy. I really wanted to go to the National Museum of Denmark so that was where I went that morning πŸ™‚

Travel: My Time in Denmark (Day 5)

Day 5 in Denmark! At this point my foot was much better, my cold was still raging, my skin allergies were driving me nuts, and the selfies dwindled between that and my hair refusing to cooperate. Otherwise, onward I went! πŸ˜› For my final day trip outside of Copenhagen I went to HillerΓΈd to visit Fredriksborg Slot (my time in Denmark pretty much consisted of me visiting as many castles and palaces as possible, lol). I think the words I used to describe the place was “idyllic” and “pictaresque” as you will see in the photos πŸ™‚ Again, relaxing trip although the signs were a little ridiculous in this town and it took quite a bit to get my sense of direction how to get to the castle (I wasn’t the only one, as I would find out walking along).

Oh, I should note, this was the only time during my time in Denmark when the weather was actually cloudy/rained a bit! Quite the contrast from the elements thrown at me whilst in Iceland xD

Travel: My Time in Denmark (Day 4)

At long last I am making my travel posts! Oh yes, that’s right, for about the next two weeks I am going to be posting, day by day, photos from my trip back in April and May to Iceland and Denmark πŸ˜€

My fourth day in Denmark was a bit busy. My foot was still bothering me but it wasn’t as bad as it was the previous day when I was in Helsingor (again, bummer that I couldn’t stay in Sweden for much longer as it was hurting so much). However I had a new development to my health: I came down with a cold. It really sucked, I was so mad (I could still taste my food but it was a pain to stop every so often to blow my nose). Talk about everything happening in the second half of my trip! πŸ™

Anyhow, I took a day trip to Roskilde on this day. Roskilde is about 30-40 minutes away from Copenhagen and it’s quite an important city historically as it does house the tombs of the Danish Royal Family (right up to present day). So I was curious to see the cathedral. Despite my runny nose, the trip itself was quite relaxed, you could just stroll up and down the street leisurely. Like Helsingor it was also quite easy to navigate to wherever it is you want to go as the street signs are pretty straightforward.
