Trailers Time!

Happy Saturday! Or, if you’ve been following the Rugby World Cup, it’s our weekly hyperventilation and flailing session -_-; Anyway, wasn’t planning on posting this as my blogging schedule as more or less filled up until January (oops) but I was going through my bookmarks the other day and realised I accumulated a number of movie trailer links recently πŸ˜€ Plus, the first trailer I’ve listed here prompted me to do this because OMG

JESSICA JONES (2015)

We finally have a proper full-length trailer for this show! The teasers were cool but an absolute torture to watch because I wanted to see actual footage from the show/Jessica Jones doing stuff. Like many I wasn’t familiar with the comic but after the success of Daredevil (review) earlier this year and the premise of Jessica Jones’ story, I can see why they chose it as the next adaptation. So yeah, the cast and the story piqued my curiosity, but seeing the trailer now I am quite excited for it. I don’t think I’ve seen Krysten Ritter in a dramatic role quite like this before, and from the glimpses we’ve seen of David Tennant, he’s looking positively creepy. Yeah, I’m ready for this show.

THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES (2016)

I read the first Shannara trilogy by Terry Brooks when I was in high school and The Elfstones of Shannara, which this adaptation is based off from, was my favourite. So I was both excited and wary when I heard that they were adapting this into a television series–by MTV, no less. I’m still a little sceptical as it looks to be geared to a particular crowd but I’m also intrigued to see how they pull it off. Plus, it’s such a mind-boggle that John Rhys-Davis is playing an elf here πŸ˜‰ Methinks I need to revisit the book…

BY THE SEA (2015)

Had no idea that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt starred in another movie together. Looks pretty, I’m intrigued.

I SMILE BACK (2015)

I admit, this movie caught my attention because Josh Charles is in it, but it looks interesting and touches on some very serious issues of mental health.

TRUMBO (2015)

This looks like such Oscar bait material (gah, why did I use that phrase, I hate that phrase, lol), but it looks interesting and the cast is solid.

HAIL, CAESAR! (2015)

Again, it looks like it’s catered for Oscar season but it is something the Coen brothers would film about, and again the cast looks solid and the humour quirky. Why not?

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES (2016)

I read the book years ago when the whole adding-a-supernatural-twist-to-classics was just taking off and thought it was amusing enough. I admit I wasn’t terribly excited when I first heard it was being adapted because zombies since have oversaturated pop culture, but watching the trailer now it looks fun. I wouldn’t say no to watching it, haha πŸ˜›

BELLE E LA BETE (2014)

Moving along with the fairy tale live-action adaptations, there’s finally a trailer for the French adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Should be interesting and I think I read somewhere that it’s following the original story (I’m not familiar with the original tale, I’m only going by the Disney movie, oops :3). Plus Lea Seydoux looks stunning as always. Wouldn’t say no to Vincent Cassel either, I’m always impressed by his performances.

What do you think of these trailers? Will you be checking any of them out?

  1. I wasn’t excited about Jessica Jones at all until I saw that trailer. You know when certain actors just irrationally irk you? I have that with half the cast (and David Tennant being in it didn’t even begin to sway me lol what is his weird accent?!) but it looks like it has potential to be awesome, if i can get over myself lol

Hail, Caesar looks like it’ll be good πŸ™‚ The Beauty & the Beast trailer too (I had to find a version with English subs lol)

    • lol, I totally understand that, I get that too with some shows and movies too. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect with this show as I was vaguely familiar with the character–kudos to their marketing team for the way they gradually revealed this main trailer xD Haha, I was asking my brother the same question re: David Tennant’s accent πŸ˜›

Glad you were able to find a version of the B&tB trailer with English subs! I got too lazy to browse through YouTube and check (also came to realise the other day that my French listening skills are crap, which doesn ‘t help, oops) :3

  2. I wasn’t paying attention to Jessica Jones because I don’t have Netflix and wasn’t sure what the show was even about, but that trailer is amazing. Now I want to watch the show!

I had no idea there was a French Beauty and the Beast out, but it looks good!

    • They kept releasing those teaser trailers that said absolutely nothing, haha, so I’m especially pleased by that full-length trailer πŸ˜€

  3. Being the TV and movie comic book geek I am, “Jessica Jones” is one I’m curious about. In fact, I may have to buy a month subscription to Netflix just to see it (unless they release it elsewhere!?) because the cast looks fab and I’m sure it is too. I’m actually really curious about the “Zombie” P&P, which kind of shots me. But, again, the cast looks AMAZING and I did adore ‘Warm Bodies,’ so there is that. ;D

    • I’m especially intrigued that they went with a lesser-known comic too. I’m hearing it’s a lot gritter than Daredevil but yeah, I’m excited! πŸ˜€
