Website: caffeinatedlife.net’s Blogoversary!

Posted 10 February, 2014 by Lianne in Website / 55 Comments

Yup, you’ve read that right: this webspace that I call home on the world wide web is seven years old this month (and on the current url it’s one year old; as some of you may recall, I ran under rulethewaves.net for over six years). The actual blogoversary was on the 4th but it’s been a little busy organising my posts around and stuff (and with another giveaway currently running) that I decided to postpone this entry a bit. Besides, how better to start another week than with a celebration? 🙂

It’s been a wonderful seven years of blogging. The first few years were a bit of a mish-mash, trying to figure out what I wanted to really do with my blog, what I wanted to blog about, what I was interested in, etc, etc. I’ve been book blogging (for the most part) quite regularly for the past three to four years. The book blogging community has been so open, eclectic and fun, it’s been a blast chatting with you all and participating (ever so slowly) in various events.

Not my gif, but celebrating Die Nationalmannschaft always makes for appropriate expressions of celebration and jubilation =)

In case anyone is curious, this is the first entry listed on this blog, which was originally a crosspost from my old, temporary blog. Look how small my to-read list was back then!

So here’s a big THANK YOU to everyone who’s dropped by, chatted, participated over the past few years; I haven’t celebrated my blogoversary in the past so this post is making up for it all =P And here’s to looking ahead to another year of fun and conversation (and continuing changes to the more technical aspects of this blog, lol. For example: I’m quite pleased to finally have a shiny, proper social media bar at the bottom of my posts, haha) 🙂

Again, not my gif, but happy minions also make for good points of celebration

So in celebration of this blogoversary, I am hosting a wee book giveaway as a way of saying thank you 🙂 List of books to choose from + contest details after the cut:

Prize List (choose ONE)
Again, I left the classics out for this one, but otherwise I tried to keep things as eclectic as possible, choosing a few titles from various genres that I’ve reviewed and rated 4 or 5 stars over the past three years 🙂 All of these books have a blurb at the start as to what the book is about; some reviews may contain minor spoilers. Some of the titles have an “OR” attached to them to give you an option had you started the series 🙂

  • Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl (review)
  • Rainbow Rowell’s Attachments (review)
  • Graeme Simsion’s The Rosie Project (review)
  • Teresa Medeiros’ Goodnight Tweetheart (review)
  • Julie Orringer’s The Invisible Bridge (review)
  • Edward Rutherfurd’s Paris (review)
  • Helene Wecker’s The Golem and the Jinni (review)
  • Anthony Marra’s A Constellation of Vital Phenomena (review)
  • Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s The Shadow of the Wind (review)
  • Carmen Laforet’s Nada (review)
  • S.J. Watson’s Before I Go to Sleep (mini-review)

  1. Oh wooooow, congratulations!!! Seven is a biiig number! 🙂 Good job staying true to it all this time! 🙂
And awww what a cute little TBR in first post ^^ We all had smaller dreams in the past, heh.
I had my first blog about 7 or 8 years back as well, and I found it again last year. SO embarrassing, wow! I deleted it so fast I left skidmarks. 😀

Thanks for the amazing giveaway as well!
Happy reading, and to many many more years! 🙂

    • Thanks Ula! It is a big number, I can’t believe I’ve had this place for that long, lol. Smaller dreams and smaller to-read piles back then, definitely xD

Haha, that must’ve been an interesting experience, re-visitng your first blog 😉 Looking back on my early posts, a lot of it was all over the place, getting my bearings and all 🙂

  2. Katie

Congratulations on seven years, iggle friend! 😀 I can only aspire to that level of dedication. ;D I’ve been wandering around your website, and I absolutely love it. Your book reviews, your writing style, your gif use, it’s all brilliant. Keep up the good work! 😀

    • Haha, yeah, seven years is a long time (where has the time gone?)! And yet at times it still feels as though I’ve just started blogging and stuff xD

  3. Congratulations! 7 years is a lot of time – a lot of posts written and books read! I have only followed you for a year or so (I think?), and it’s been a fun year. I hope you go on running this fantastic blog for another 7 years or more!

  4. Congratulations on seven years! That’s a long time. You always read such good books and I love reading your reviews about them. I might also have snagged some good music from this site (Fabrizio Paterlini, Ludovico Einaudi). I hope you keep it up!

    • Thank you Skye! And I’m glad to hear you’ve discovered the awesomeness of Fabrizio Paterlini and Ludovico Einaudi 😀 Their compositions are just so beautiful and emotional <3

  5. Riv

I think this is one of the biggest numbers in blogging I personally know – congratulations! I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while now and definitely one of the reasons is that you write about such wide variety of mediums and genres.

    • Thanks Riv! 🙂 Haha, yeah, I’ve been around for quite a while, though my proper venture into the book blogging community has only been for the last four years or so. Thanks also for the kind words about my blog 🙂

    • Aww, thank you! lol, yeah, my TBR can be pretty eclectic like that–but it keeps things interesting xD Looking forward to seeing you around here in the future 🙂

  6. Happy 7th blogoversary! 😀 That is quite an achievement!

Your first TBR list was so cute *g* in the small sort of fashion I mean.

    • Thanks! 🙂 lol, yeah, I wonder if my first TBR list is any indication of how disciplined I was back then when it came to buying and getting through books xD

  7. Congratulations on a whole seven years!! I don’t think I knowany other bloggers who have been blogging that long! That’s really, really fantastic 🙂

    • Thank you Elizabeth! 🙂 Haha, yeah, it’s pretty crazy that it’s been 7 years since I’ve started using this space; it seemed like yesterday I was just starting out xD

    • No worries, I was pretty late posting this up myself! But yeah, thanks! Seems like yesterday I just started using this blog regularly 🙂

  8. Hallo Lianne!

🙂 What a wonderful milestone for you!! Celebrating in spirit!! I feel a bit like you in some ways, where your first year blogging is where you get your feet wet and establish yourself into your blog’s rhythm and heart! I am so very appreciative of the journey! And, I am ever so very thankful that our paths crossed right on the brink of when my blog was getting off the ground! You provided me with so much wicked advice that my gratitude will forever be yours! I am happy to *wave!* my banners of cheer & celebrate with you as you embark on another exciting year of blogging, book adventures, and the awesome community of the bookish blogosphere! I second the notion that the community is not only welcoming but happily eclectic & diverse!

I tossed my hat to win a book I simply devoured & loved myself: The Golem & the Jinni!! I <3'd your post! I need to drop by again and chat about it with you!!

    • Thanks Jorie! It’s been wonderful to “meet” you and to watch you progress in your blogging journey as well 🙂

You should drop by my review of The Golem and the Jinni if you have the chance; I don’t think my review did the book justice but it was such a rich and wonderful read 🙂

  9. Kelseigh

Congratulations on seven years! I’ve only just started blogging so I haven’t quite figured out what I want mine to be about, and it’s nice to see someone who’s figured that out.

    • Thanks Kelseigh! I think one of the exciting things about starting out blogging is that sense of discovery: what you want to do with your blog, what it’ll be about, how to go about formatting your posts, etc. So best of luck with your shiny new blog! 😀

  10. Oh wow Lianne, seven years is truly impressive – congratulations! =D

I’m so glad you joined in with SFM last year, and that we met. Here’s to many more years of blogging!

    • Thanks so much Rinn! 😀 It’s pretty surreal that I’ve had this place for so long. Participating in SFM was definitely a highlight from last year! 🙂

    • Thanks for the greeting and the words of encouragement, Tricia! Lucky seven — didn’t even think of that until you mentioned it 😀

  11. Angeline

Wow 7 years! Congratulations! I’ve only been reading for less than a year but I do love visiting your blog because of the books you review. Most of the times they’re books I’ve never heard of and are so different to the regular ones you see on almost all blogs so it’s refreshing to see.

    🙂

    • Thanks for the greetings and the kind words, Angeline, I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog entries 🙂 Always happy to spread the word on a wide range of titles 😀
